Made-to-Order Shop Update - How Does It Work?

Thanks so much for your interest in my made-to-order shop update! I’m always trying to improve the ways you can buy from me, so I hope this experiment is a success.

Since the start of 2022, many more people have found me and my work which has meant that my shop is sold out most of the time. I’ve been focusing my making on the designs that have the most demand, but I’m aware that has left lots of other items out of stock for a long time. My aim with this made-to-order update is to give you more choice, and hopefully make the shopping experience slightly less stressful.

This time around you can choose the pot(s) you want before I make them. I’ll then set to work and aim to have everything delivered in approx 8 weeks.

I’m offering most of my existing designs for you to choose from, and also bringing back the option to personalise tattoo mugs - it’s really fun making items completely unique to you, and I loved seeing the combinations that were ordered last time I made them.

Here’s how it will work:

  • The shop will go live on Sunday 17th July at 10.30am.

  • Previews will be online this week, showing as ‘Sold Out’.

  • The shop will be offline on the morning of Sunday 17th July while I update the inventory and it will magically reappear at 10.30am ready to buy.

  • It will remain open until around 150 items have been ordered, then close again. This is the amount that I can comfortably make and deliver within approx 8 weeks.

  • I will be limiting “F*ck Boris” and “Well Behaved Women” mugs to 40 items of each to give people the opportunity to order other designs before the ceiling of 150 pots is reached. (If no-one wants other designs, I’ll add more Boris and WBW later on!)

A few points to note:

  • Recent shop updates have sold out in about 2 minutes. Although I hope this will be a bit more relaxed for you, I would strongly recommend browsing the preview to choose exactly what you’d like to order, and being online at 10.30am ready to place your order.

  • Popular designs sell out in minutes. It’s worth setting a reminder so you are ready and waiting at release time. Refresh the page for the listings to appear (I schedule them to go live at 10.30am and the server usually does this between 10.30 and 10.31).

  • Unfortunately my site doesn’t have the capability to hold items in your basket, they are not yours until you have completed the check out process. They can be in multiple baskets at once, the person who completes check out first gets it.

  • My site is optimised for use on mobile, but I’d recommend using a laptop for fastest and most accurate checkout. Please check your delivery address carefully.

  • I do not accept PayPal, so have your payment card ready.

  • To speed up the checkout process, you can set up a customer account and save your shipping and card details in advance. Simply click on the little ‘person’ icon on my website (top right on desktop, bottom right on mobile) to enter your details and choose a password.

  • Apple Pay is also a speedy way to checkout. You need to be accessing my site via the Safari browser on an Apple device to use it, and have it set up at your end, of course.

  • I will have to ‘turn off’ the shop manually when 150 items are reached, so there is a small chance that your purchase may get interrupted when I do that. Apologies in advance if that happens.

Once all the orders are in, I’ll organise the most efficient way to make them (e.g. everything in speckled clay together, all the tattoo mugs at once, etc). I will post out in batches, so you may receive sooner than 8 weeks. They will not necessarily be posted in the order that they were received, but rest assured I will fulfil as quickly as I can.

This month I have made the decision to change my postage service from Royal Mail Second / First Class Signed For to Royal Mail Tracked 48 / 24 with Signature. It’s a little bit more expensive, but it gives you the peace of mind that you can track the entire journey of your parcel. It also seems to give more reliable delivery times - I’m a big fan of RM, but Second Class could arrive in one day, or take seven or more in some cases.

Finally, please respect that I am one person working as hard as I can to make enough for everyone. I do understand it is disappointing if you have not been able to buy the piece you wanted (and I am truly humbled by the demand), however I struggle with the amount of disappointed comments / DMs / emails I receive after shop updates. I’m so happy you would like a piece and I’ll be grateful if you try again next time.
