"Well Behaved Women" Mug - Vintage Font
As we know, well behaved women seldom make history. This big, cosy mug is thrown on the potters wheel from white stoneware clay. Before the clay is fully dry, I apply a chintzy, floral-patterned underglaze transfer on the outside surface and handle, then use a stencil to add the text “Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History”. The Edwardian-style typeface and purple colour are a nod to the Suffragettes’ campaign posters. Finished with transparent glaze. You can see a video of the decorating process here.
9.5-10cm tall, 9.5-10cm wide at base, 400ml-ish capacity (measurements are approximate). Every item is handmade and there will be some variations in size, shape and pattern repeat. Dishwasher and microwave safe, gentle hand-washing recommended.
Right handed means if you hold the mug in your right hand the design faces away from your body - left handed means if you hold in your left hand the design faces away.
