Reason for reduction - Small crack inside base (these occur during glaze firing and fill with molten glaze)
I originally created this cherry blossom and banner tattoo-inspired design in 2020. The adage “This Too Shall Pass” reminds us of the impermanence of the human condition - all things, both good and bad, will pass in time. I paired it with a cherry blossom motif, because cherry blossom represents the beauty and fragility of life in Japanese culture.
This mug was thrown on the potters wheel from white stoneware clay. It is bisque fired, then glazed in satin white and fired again. Finally, I apply a printed overglaze decal of my original hand-painted design, and fire the mug for a third time
Every item is entirely handmade by Emma and there will be some variations in size, shape and finish. Photos are illustrative of the handmade item you will receive. Items sold individually.
9.5cm tall, 9.5-10cm wide at base, 400ml-ish capacity (measurements are approximate). Gentle hand-washing recommended, can be used in dishwasher and microwave. Click here for more information on care of your item.
