As we know, well behaved women seldom make history. This handy trinket box is thrown in two parts on the potters wheel from white stoneware clay. Before the clay is fully dry, I apply a chintzy, floral-patterned underglaze transfer, then use a stencil to add the text “Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History”. The Edwardian-style typeface and purple colour are a nod to the Suffragettes’ campaign posters.. Finished with transparent glaze.
